Patrick Clair Motion Design Reel 2010

I found this reel from a link about Google.  I really like the motion graphics he uses in his designs.

This is the google video he did.

Museums via Google!

This is a fantastic site to visit museums and even explore the work of many artists.  You can zoom in close like google earth and really look at each brush stroke if you want!!!  check out Starry Night as an example.

Meet Buck Character Design and animation inspiration

Here is a fantastic work with stylish characters. I'm really impressed with the texturing to give a painterly look.

And here is a close up of the texturing

Character design inspiration

This is an animation that is pretty gruesome but the character design and texturing is fantastic

And here is the breakdown of the work involved to get the look

Inspiration...

Here are a couple people / things  I find inspiring...

Anthony Gormley

A CASE FOR AN ANGEL III
I find his sculptures truly incredible.

  • In Case for an Angel - He uses the space to make the viewer have to move around and inspect his work from all sides. If you want to see the back of the sculpture you have to duck under the wings.

  • Field - is an erie scene where the viewer is confronted with thousands of tiny red sculptures with a basic body shape and two eyes.  Reading about this work, it was created with help from many people.  As with people, no two characters are alike.

Vincent van Gogh

He has always been inspiring to me.  The melting, swirling brush strokes always help to make my eyes wander around his images.

  • The Church at Auvers-sur-Oise - I was fortunate enough to see this at Musee d'Orsay, Paris.  I think one of the things that struck me most about his work is that it feels 100x more vibrant than any picture I have seen of any of his work.  The blue in the windows of this painting are riveting.  I must have spent 15minutes just admiring his use of color.
  • Starry Night - you can just feel the warmth of the evening settling around you.

1957 Chevrolet

This car is one of the most beautiful cars I have ever seen.  The designers really nailed it perfectly.  Every line on the car is a work of art. I have in the back of my mind an idea to design the 2057 chevrolet.  I think that would be a great design challenge.  In the similar fashion that mustang, charger, camaro, and thunderbird were redesigned for a contemporary look.
